Canadian visas are classified according to their purpose of travel, such as Canada Visitor visa, Canada Student visa, Canada Work visa, and Parents and Grandparents Super Visa. A Canada student visa, as the name implies, is required to enter Canada to continue your education.
The main distinction between a study permit and a visa is that a study permit allows you to study in Canada for the duration of your degree programme and then stay for three months. A visitor visa, on the other hand, grants foreign nationals the permission to enter Canada. However, whether the student must apply for a guest visa separately depends on his or her nationality.
Foreign nationals from China, India, Morocco, the Philippines, and other countries may apply through the Student Direct Stream in Canada and expect to receive their study permit in less than 20 calendar days. To travel to Canada as an Indian student, three items are required: a passport, a study permission, and an automatic guest visa.
Why should you apply online?
Unlike the offline option, online processing of a study abroad student visa application is simple, easy, and time saving. It also has the following advantages:
- There is no need to transmit a hardcopy of the application form by stepping into a VFS centre.
- It also saves paper and courier fees.
- An applicant can monitor the progress of his or her application.
- Denial reasons, insufficient paperwork, and other implications can be communicated much more quickly and accurately.
- An applicant can rapidly upload and submit documents twice or three times if necessary.
Requirements for Eligibility
Any student who has been accepted into a degree programme at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) and has received an offer letter is entitled to apply for a study visa. An overseas student is eligible for a study permit if all of the following conditions are met:
- Acceptance letter from the chosen and indicated educational institution.
- Proof that there is enough money in the account to cover the study, accommodation, and flights.
- A legal document serving as evidence that no crime has been committed to date.
- A CAD 10,000 Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) obtained and signed by the applicant.
- If you want to study in Quebec, you must have a Certificate acceptation du Québec (CAQ).
- A medical certificate certifying the student's excellent health.
- The latest academic transcripts in English
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.0 or above as confirmation of English language proficiency.
Checklist of Documents
The following documents must be supplied with the study permit application form:
- A photocopy of your original passport's bio page that has not been xeroxed, and the passport must be valid for the duration of the degree programme.
- If necessary, all previously expired and cancelled passports should be included.
- Questionnaire for Study Permit
- Two current passport-size pictures that adhere to the specified dimensions. On the back of the photograph, write your name.
- Acceptance letter from the educational institution in Canada, stating the course title, term of study, degree level, and date of admission.
- Furthermore, a leaving certificate and photocopies of mark sheets from the most recent academic examination, such as a higher secondary exam or a bachelor's degree, are desired.
- Income tax returns over the previous two years for you and your parents.
- Scholarship information such as the name of the scholarship in Canada, the amount of the entire award, the length, and any stipulations attached to it, if obtained.
- If you have previously worked or are currently working, please provide pay checks for the last three months, as well as offer letters from your present and previous employers detailing your job description, roles and responsibilities, remuneration, and service time.
Remember that you must provide all the documents listed on your application form. Any delay on your part conveys the impression that the applicant is not serious.
